Hiking in Asheville with olpr. Team

Hiking in Asheville with olpr. Team

Our happy little olpr. crew loves embracing life to the fullest. We are all about leaving our phones and tablets behind (occasionally) and going on adventures Lord of the Rings style. What I mean by this is that we are walking in a single colon while taking epic drone clips of ourselves!

All joking aside, we are constantly looking for new ways to connect with our clients. We want you to know that we put our heart and soul into each and every product and these are some of the things that make us tick so these are some of the things that make our products the way they are. And we are pretty proud of them! We love the outdoors and we want to introduce you to some of our favorite places to take hikes and enjoy nature.

Who knows, maybe you will meet us on the trail! This time we have chosen something really special: Asheville and the breathtaking nature that surrounds it. You know when you are watching a show and there is some small town that looks too beautiful to be real, well Asheville is exactly that kind of place.

It literally looks photoshopped. If fairytales took place in modern times this would be the town where all the magic happens. I really don`t know how to describe it and do it justice and especially to bring it`s vibe to the modern reader. You can take pictures for Instagram all day and not use any filter once and they would always look gorgeous. Ok, that works!

While it is definitely worth visiting this cozy little magical place on its own, the nature that surrounds it is really something else. We will show you some spots that we like, they are in no particular order and we definitely recommend that you explore all of them if you can, and to go and explore further on your own and discover some amazing places all on your own!

Looking Glass Rock

Looking Glass Rock is a granite monolith (no, not the one like in the 2001 Space Odyssey) and it is a pretty laid back and joy ride hike. There is some ground to be covered, the climb is 6.4 miles long but for the most part, it is pretty easy. Let`s call this one a beginners trail even though it is quite long but you can set up a moderate pace and not get too exhausted.

Your reward for finishing this trail is not in the high peak where you look down on everything around you with only the blue sky above, no, the reward is in the steep vertical cliff where the trail ends. Here lies all the excitement and standing on the edge is what draws so many hikers to this particular spot!

Crabtree Falls

Let`s take a break from the cliff and check out some beautiful waterfalls situated deep into the forest! Crabtree falls is another novice track, it will feel more like a walk in the park than a survival episode with Bear Grills but if you just want to have a nice relaxed hike and enjoy the scenery this is the trail for you.

This one will engage all of your senses as the forest floor is covered with several dozen types of wildflowers so you will fully emerge into the forest with breathtaking beauty, sweat smells and wonderful sounds of various types of birds and the sounds of the waterfalls themselves.

The Grandfather Trail

If you judge this trail by its name, you would be wrong, so terribly wrong. You see this name pop up and you probably think to yourself: “This is a perfect trail to start my hiking career, just a brisk walk, maybe I will take some extra tea to sip while I enjoy the scenery”

What you didn`t know is that good old grandpa was a special ops navy seal team six members and cross fit and iron man champion! This trail is rough. It is 2.4 miles long but it will gruel you every single step of the way. There are ladders, steel cables, steep climbs you name it! If you are more of an adventure type and you want an active obstacle course experience this is the trail for you.

Don't be afraid, once finished you get to see some of the most amazing views on this little planet we call home! Like I said these paths are just a sample of many interesting trails for you to explore and enjoy. Let`s take a look now what you should bring with you when you hike.

Always keep in mind that it is better to come over prepared than not prepared at all. There are some essentials that you should carry with you even on the most benign of hiking trails. Ok, you should always have a good and sturdy backpack to carry your essentials. Be sure you double check if you have all this stuff just in case: Map of the area, compass, multi-tool pocket knife, fire starting kit, first aid kit, flashlight, batteries, a bottle of water.

All of these products are extremely handy and useful and you should always have them but if you want to look cool on the trail, we got you! You can take one of our backpacks and travel kits to pack these items. We also have amazing straps for your camera that is extra sturdy and durable and really nice on the eye as well.

We want to help you nurture your habit of living healthy and having an amazing time outdoors. No one said you can`t look cool doing it! There you have it, go there explore these amazing trails, see and feel the views that nurture your very soul. You will be tired but it is the best kind of tired ever, it will pass but awesome memories will absolutely stay forever!
